Looks like it's considerably colder today from my hotel window. Headed out to visit schools this morning. Looking forward to meeting some Russian students.
Hi Emily!! Glad to hear you made it to Russia safely. Pictures are great so far...can't wait to see and read more about it. We will be following you daily in science research. Best wishes and stay warm!

How different is the culture there in Moscow? Are the students much different than back in Florida? Stay warm.

Tim, the culture is similar in that they like shopping and have many of the same stores from Subway and Krispy Kreme to McDonalds and Starbucks. One difference is that everyone seems to always be in a rush and everyone dresses up a lot. People are very polite and hold doors and offer to carry things. Most people smoke, and dinners last much longer than US dinners, with it not being uncommon to sit at restaurant for several hours through several courses.

Hey Mrs. Torlak! I hope you're having an awesome time in Russia, and I can't wait to hear/see more about it. I was actually curious about how the team of teachers was selected from the US... it seems like an awesome opportunity and a once in a lifetime experience! Stay warm and keep us posted (:
